Meet the 20+ Healthcare Leaders Deciding What You'll See at AHW 2027

Australian Healthcare Week (AHW) has announced its 2027 Advisory Board — more than 20 of Australia's leading healthcare executives, clinicians, policymakers and international health leaders who'll help shape the country's largest multidisciplinary healthcare event.

It's the first signal of momentum for 2027, coming off a record-breaking 2026 edition that drew nearly 10,000 registrations, 476 speakers and 182 exhibitors.

The announcement follows the Board's inaugural meeting in Sydney last month, where members representing public and private health, aged care, government, digital health, and clinical leadership discussed the priorities shaping Australia's healthcare future — insights that will directly inform the 2027 program.

Who's in the room

Among those appointed is Prof. The Hon. Greg Hunt, Former Australian Minister for Health, alongside senior leaders from the Australian Digital Health Agency, Monash Health, NSW Health, St Vincent's Health Australia, Ramsay Health Care, Calvary Health Care, Catholic Healthcare, Uniting, Anglicare, Southern Cross Healthcare New Zealand, Singapore General Hospital and King's College London.

Prof. The Hon. Greg Hunt, Advisory Board member, said:

"Australia has one of the world's strongest healthcare systems, but excellence is not a destination, it is a continuous practice. Maintaining that position requires collaboration, innovation and a willingness to learn from one another."

What's actually on their minds

The Board's inaugural meeting centred on the issues most impacting healthcare leaders today:

  • Workforce sustainability — how do you retain and support a stretched healthcare workforce?
  • Responsible AI adoption — separating genuine clinical value from AI hype
  • Digital transformation — modernising systems without disrupting care
  • Patient experience — designing healthcare around the people it serves
  • System-wide collaboration — breaking down the silos between public, private, and community health

These conversations will directly inform the development of Australian Healthcare Week and the co-located Healthcare 2040 Expo, ensuring the 2027 program addresses the challenges shaping healthcare across Australia and internationally.

Australia's Largest Multidisciplinary Healthcare Gathering

Now in its 16th edition, Australian Healthcare Week and the co-located Healthcare 2040 Expo will bring together more than 10,000 healthcare professionals, 500 speakers, 10 specialist programs plus CPD-accredited learning.

The event is officially supported by:

  • Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing
  • Sydney Local Health District
  • Hunter New England Local Health District
  • NSW Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network
  • eHealth NSW
  • Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI)
  • Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA)
  • Australian Association of Practice Management (AAPM)
