The Healthcare 2040 Expo is our bold new platform to explore what’s next – and what’s possible.
Co-located with Australian Healthcare Week, this immersive new event brought together the brightest minds and most transformative solutions shaping the healthcare landscape of tomorrow. From building the hospital of the future to designing smarter systems and advancing digital health, the Expo offered a front-row seat to the next frontier - setting the stage for a healthier, smarter and more connected world.
The Digital Impact stage showed how technology is already driving real improvements in healthcare — from virtual care and connected devices to AI decision support and cyber-resilient systems. On the Futures stage, innovators explored the next frontier, from generative AI and precision medicine to immersive care models and next-gen interoperability, mapping out what healthcare could look like in 2040 and beyond.
The 2026 Start-Up Pitchfest returned as part of the Start-Up & Investor Program, connecting healthtech founders with investors through Pitchfests, founder talks and one-on-one meetings. Across two days, startups showcased solutions in women’s health, patient and clinician experience, and new models of care. The program culminated in the Pitchfest Grand Finale on the HC2040 Futures Stage, where nine finalists presented to investors, with NPathy named winner for its standout health technology solution.
Respected healthcare associations, researchers and professional bodies came together to share evidence-based insights, practical strategies and lived experience from across the sector. Delivered by our official Community Partners, the sessions brought forward the voices shaping policy, practice and care delivery on the ground.
Attendees engaged in a series of short, focused seminars and workshops led by leading associations, academic experts and sector bodies, creating a dynamic space for real-time learning and discussion throughout the event.
Designed by executives, for executives, the program focused on shaping the future of health through targeted, high-value connections. Feedback from attendees highlighted the strength of the experience, with leaders noting the value of the Executive Stream in broadening perspectives on healthcare leadership and digital transformation. The exhibition floor was also praised as a strong opportunity to engage directly with vendors and explore emerging technologies in practice.
At Healthcare 2040 Expo, we heard from Dr Amandeep Hansra, Chief Clinical Adviser (Medicine) at the Australian Digital Health Agency and practising GP, who shared a forward-looking perspective on how clinical roles are evolving in the age of AI. Drawing on deep experience across telehealth, digital health and clinical leadership, she explored the governance gaps Australia must address to ensure safe, effective adoption - and what it will take to integrate AI meaningfully into everyday care delivery.

The global AI healthcare market is projected to reach US$868 billion by 2030, yielding US$646 billion in cost savings and US$222 billion in revenue gains.
Australian organisations that delay AI adoption now face existential risk, as 85% of healthcare leaders are already exploring or implementing generative AI capabilities, with 64% of early implementers reporting positive returns on investment.
However, with 68% of Australian companies having integrated AI technologies and a healthcare system already focused on prevention and population health, the nation has the foundation to become a global exemplar of intelligent healthcare delivery.
