Healthdirect Australia is a national, government owned,
not-for-profit organisation. We were established in 2006 by the Council of
Australian Governments with a mandate to work across jurisdictional boundaries
to deliver telehealth and digital health services to the whole population.
We design and deliver innovative services to provide Australians
with 24/7 access to trusted information and advice they need to manage their
own health. Our rigorous clinical governance framework ensures the services we
offer are safe, reliable and consistent with national standards.
Our services cater for people at many different stages of
life, ranging from practical and emotional support during pregnancy through to
aged care, helping millions of people each year who would otherwise need to
travel great distances to access support services.
No matter where people live, or what time of the day or
night, Australians can talk to professionals and find trusted advice online
about how to manage their health.
Our shareholders are the Australian Federal Government and
the governments of the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Northern
Territory, South Australia, Tasmania, and Western Australia.
